So, quite often on my way in to school, I listen to NPR on the drive. I’ve rather come to enjoy it (although, this morning Johnny Cash was riding shotgun with me). Anyway, before I switched over to Johnny Cash, I heard an NPR reporter utter something like this (don’t quote me on the content, I don’t remember it exactly. But, this is the jist):
[…]when responding to critics President Bush would argue that the situation in Iraq isn’t as simple as they cast the situation. President Bush would say that [the situation in Iraq] was much more nuanced (emphasis mine).
This may just be a minor clerical error, or some other form of overstatement…nonetheless, this statement struck me as exceedingly odd.
President Bush would never say that the situation in Iraq is “nuanced.”
In fact, the President would probably never say anything was nuanced. He’d never use that word. I doubt he even knows that word.
Sheesh.

“Nuanced” must be another word you should use to make yourself seem smarter.

This must be an adjective of strategery, how else would he know it.

I mean, really, what should we expect from the people who gave us “I tell you whut…” and “Git awn ow heeah!”?

Bush is such a tabula rasa for most.
Non fundamentalist Christians HATE his “Christianity.”
Fundamentalist Christians allow it to create a “halo effect” over all of his actions.
Am I the only Christian that SERIOUSLY feels patronized by his “Christianity?”
I don’t tend to put much weight on the far left or far right pundits, but if you have done any research into Bush and Rove’s political histories, it becomes very clear that Bush and Rove have actively pushed the “Christian” buttons to advance their political careers?
Anyone tired of the gay marriage issue rearing it’s head before every recent election?

He heard someone use it and decided he’d try it on for size. I think he would have used it no matter what the context; like he’d gotten a new toy. His “nuanced” toy. Just another addition to the rest of his toys: the military (a.k.a the green G.I. Joes; the country (a.k.a hanging monkeys-in-a-bucket); and the rest of the government (a.k.a his Hot Wheels collection).

No, Robert, you’re not. In fact, his anti-Christian behaviour–and that of some of the most vocal uber-conservative Christians out there–is the biggest reason why I’ve felt like wanting to shed the Christian moniker at times and simply refer to myself as a Deist.

Wasn’t it Dick Cheney that told reporters circa 2004 “We don’t DO “nuance,” in response to something Kerry said?

Nuanced - origin: “vaguely French.” LOL

No, Ninjanun. It was our “beloved” president, George Walker Bush. (Just google “we don’t do nuance.”)

He doesn’t make mistakes, either. HA!

Well at least you are gracious about it… oh wait, you’re not…
