So, I know I said I was going to quit writing here. And, the truth is, I thought I was. Frankly, I ran out of things to say. But, after a month off and a trip to Western Europe in the rearview, I’ve decided I have a few more cultural comments to make before I completely throw in the blog towel.
The truth is: I like what I think about when I live life with the idea of blogging in the back of my mind. To live life critically is something I relish, blogging helps me to do that. So, while I keep writing things for publication elsewhere, too, I think it’s good practice for me to keep on chuggin’ here as well. (Albeit at a bit slower pace than the past two years.)
I hope this doesn’t disappoint anyone–especially not the worldview weekend folks, or the Christian T-shirt zealots, who find this blog so troublesome to their faith. Anyway, thanks to all of you who’ve emailed and really made the decision to keep on blogging much easier. Your kind words mean a lot!

Brandon: You are definitely becoming a full-time writer…at least in professional attitude. I maintain that a real writer doesn’t just like to write, but also feels the need to fling those writings out into the public arena. You’re a whore basically, but a whore that loves what he does. And, because the tools of the trade involve words, you don’t have to spend all that money on makeup and high heels. I knew that I was a hopeless whore-writer when in addition to articles and books, I needed to blog even during those weeks when no one commented at all. Keep it up and keep bustin’ our chops with your opinions and slants on life.

I was just thinking 2-3 days ago, I wish Brandon would blog again. But, eh, I shouldn’t email him because when people make decisions, I should honor those decisions. But I’m glad my thought waves made it your way anyway…glad to see you back.

Yay! I agree with you on the lifeview part — I just think differently when I’m considering what I would write about an issue, and it helps me clarify my own beliefs, even if I don’t write the post in the end.
Welcome back, and remember, it’s your blog. Write daily. Write weekly. Write whenever you damn well feel like it, and not to some arbitrary schedule.

So what have you written for publication? Are you gonna post a bibliography here for your supporters?

I noticed the snide remark about “worldview weekends”. I went to “Worldview Academy” last week because my parents made me (my dad thinks I’m turning into a pagan because I want the Harvard Classics for my birthday, so he wanted me to have a good “worldview” before I read anything by those horrid pagan philosophers), and it ended up being pretty enjoyable. I disagreed strenuously with some of the things they said, but I learned a lot too. When they got to the lecture about homosexuality, I was certain that they were going to be like, “God hates fags! There’s no such thing as a gay Christian!” but I was pleasantly surprised. However, I think it’s stupid to call philosophies “worldviews.” It makes having a Christian outlook on life sound like the next evangelical Christian fad…gag!
