end of the semester

Posted in life at 3:04 pm by

Well, friends. This semester has proven to be a doosy. Thus far, though, I’ve escaped largely unscathed. I hope to post a bit more in the future. Lately I’ve been thinking about the series of ethical conversation in online environments, particularly as that conversation relates to the set of rules governing minority voices.I’d love, also, to get into a few other things regarding the way we make attributions about eachother in online communities, and the way we negotiate those attributions.

Also, a while back Ninjanun asked that I give a brief overview of Reformed Christianity. Now, I’m sure that I’m largely unqualified to give a complete overview of the tradition. But, in the next few weeks I’d like to take a whack at my understanding of Reformed Christianity and talk a bit about how it fits into my life.

If there’ve been other things, over the past few months, that have gone on here, in the news, or in another area of Christendom that struck you as something you’d like to hear more about, I’d be interested to hear those suggestions, as well.

Finally, I’m going to make some work out of hammering out a more complete blogvention schedule of events. Hopefully, that should be a good time, and I would hope that you’ll check out the blogvention category on the right to learn more about what blogvention is and if you might like to come!

Thanks for sticking with me for that last few months of semester. It was a tough one, but I hope, soon, to get back on top of this blogging thing.

mmm, Reformed Christianity. I was certainly seduced by their sexy theology and now look at me! A seminarian. I’ll be interested in reading and dialoging with you. I recently discovered Mouw’s book, Calvinism in the Las Vegas Airport and highly recommend it in tone and content to those who are flirting with Jean Cauvin, et. al.

I must say that Philip has me all exited about judging you in some way, Brandon…I can’t wait to get started! So get busy and give me something to argue about! ;)

When I read your comment, Meg, I thought you were telling us how you were in the Las Vegas airport when you discovered the Mouw book. I was pretty damn impressed with the Vegas bookstore until I realized that, of course, this wasn’t what you meant at all.

I may have to check that one out. But first, I clearly need sleep.

Congrats on finishing the semester, Brandon. Now you’ll have all sorts of free time to devote to your hypocrisy of choice. Enjoy.

Bless you, Jacke. If I murdered you what would I be called? A murderer? What would you call me? A nice guy with people issues? I don’t know, but I love you anyway. I hope the point of this blog is not to put down every “conservative” Christian who believes in moral absolutes. We do not need reformed Chrsitianity. We need reformed Christians…

Oh, me too, Philip, otherwise I’ll be in a whole heap of hurt! ;)

I think you’d be surprised if you read my blog, Philip. I have been careful not to “plug” it to anyone on this blog but since I became a “member” here I lost the option for people to link to it from this blog…so I leave this for you, in case you are interested.

I, personally, think it is kind of bad form to visit blogs and ask people to visit theirs so I wouldn’t do that except I lost the ability to link through my name. Do me a favor, and learn a little about me before you decide you know me.

Brandon, can you remove me as a member so that I can link to my blog through my name again? Like I said I don’t think it is nice to plug it, but I often click on people’s links to their blogs out of curiosity about who they are and what they believe, I would just like people to at least have that option to learn a little more about me, as well.

    Jacke,

If you click on the Admin link in the toolbar on the top of the screen, you should be able to fiddle around until you add your url to your name.
