I admit it. I love worldview weekend emails. The founder of worldview weekend, Brannon Howse, has taken to jotting down a few of his thoughts and sending out emails about them. They’re usually priceless and the latest one I received was no different. In this installment of the worldview weekend weekly spam, Howse goes on to defend Tom DeLay and Bill Frist. Here’s an excerpt:

Lauded these days as the highest of all virtues is the sweeping notion of “tolerance.” As the quirks of modern, sound-bite philosophy would have it, though, the one-way street of tolerance turns only to the left. The latest issues to have taken that route center on two of America’s most powerful and effective conservatives-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. In considering what you hear of these fine men, it is wise to take into account another influencer who works incessantly to drive our culture in the wrong direction.

Perhaps you have seen Barry Lynn, president of the radical group, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, on TV or read AU rantings over Tom DeLay’s hiring of his wife and daughter to work in his campaign. Or you may have seen them overheating about Senate Majority Leader Frist addressing a group of religious conservatives who met on a Sunday night to express their concern that several devotely Christian judgeship nominees are not getting an up or down vote in the Senate.

Okay. So, let me get this straight. Tom DeLay can break laws, participate in uncouth campaigning, be involved with various degrees of unkept political behavior because why, again? Because, he’s not doing anything as foul as child pornography? He can be inethical and that’s just fine and dandy after all because (and if we read this next line together we can REALLY start to sound like a cult):

Senator Frist and Representative DeLay believe in God, the moral law, the Constitution, and religious liberties for all.

Resistance is futile.

Oh, and thanks Mr. Howse for painting all liberals with your child pornographer brush. I really appreciate that.

hmmm… Mr. Howse wants us to “recognize Barry Lynn and his organization for what they are: the most radical, extremist liberals in America.”

But wait, didn’t Howse get the memo from Crackpot Central? I thought that Justice Anthony Kennedy was the greatest threat America faced.

This is clearly a breakdown in message discipline.

I’m still getting Worldview Weekend emails as well. But just recently my Gmail account has started flagging them as spam. I thought that was rather humorous.

Remind me again why we don’t just consider some of these “Christian” groups to be hate groups. I’m really not seeing a difference anymore now that they can get away with condemning large groups of people for “sin” while letting their own doing whatever crap they want.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed what I had about the ‘Bad Christian’ test. If you take a look at the correct answers at the end of the test, you may notice that Every Single Answer begins with the word ‘extremely’. I believe that’s the word, it could be something else. It’s been a while since I took it. I found it interesting that a ‘good christian’ was allowed to have absolutely NO ’sort of’ beliefs; everything you feel anything about must be felt as an extreme.
