I’m so thankful for our Vice President! Particularly that he felt so free at a photo opportunity on the senate floor to let his true colors shine through. (See press release here, here, and here).
Long story short, our friend Dick gets upset at constant badgering about his dealings with Halliburton that he snaps and tells Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy from Vermont to “Fuck off.” Now, those of you who know me well know that I’ve been known to every now and again in a moment of passion “drop a little f-bomb.” I certainly don’t condemn the VP for that. His constituency will though.
We need more politicians like Dick Cheney. People who say what they mean. Who have little if no veil over their true emotions and viewpoints. In fact, this Cheney incident smacks distinctly of the speech of a recently defeated Howard Dean after one of the first primaries. (AKA the “Dean Scream Speech”). This was of course the beginning of the end of the Dean Campaign. I hope that this little SNAFU of Dick Cheney represents a similar end to his parties’ bid for another four years.
I think, though, that through his choices of leadership dubya has shown his true colors. The Cheney/Rumsfeld machine has shown their true colors, time and again. And, to be honest, I’m a little surprised that the “religious right” is so excited about having a “christian” president. Seems to me that draping this Republican administration with the banner of Christ should be foul to the conservative christian right wing…but maybe that’s just me. I am an idealist after all. The same people who claim that they “can’t not follow the gospel of Jesus Christ” not only support these things but claim that there is no other political route for a “Real Christian” to follow.
Well, one of two things is true; either I’m not a “Real Christian” or they’re wrong…either way I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Vice President Dick Cheney for taking aim directly at the current administration’s proverbial foot.
