dude you’re gettin’ a dell…

Posted in fun at 2:30 pm by

So, I’ve been computer shopping lately. The laptop that had been graciously donated to me for the past three years by the fine people in the information technology center at work is officially no longer.

A moment of silence ensues

So, now I’m on the market. I know that most of you are screaming powerbook, but that may be a bit outside of what I’m wishing to spend. I feel like I definitely NEED some stuff–but i’m not sure what items i’m just getting screwed on and will never need and what I’d miss out on by buying a base type model.

So, I’ve looked at dell–haven’t really checked out powerbook or mac, mostly cuz i’ve always done the IBM/Microsoft thing

listens to the masses begin to become somewhat irrate…a few beer bottles are thrown, unfortunately though, none of them are full.

Calm down, everybody. I’m just saying, I need some help here–what to purchase…i’d like a notebook, and I’d like to keep it at 1,700 at the high end. I want to be able to do wireless easily and i need reasonable photo editing capability. Beyond that I’m flexibility…oh, yeah, I want MS Word or the equivalent.

Help.

If you want to go apple. perhaps an ibook would work for you? And until you leave Calvin you qualify for Higher Education discount….

Top of the line 14″ ibook (includes airport) comes in at $1399. That’s also the starting point for the powerbook range, with a basic 12″ powerbook coming in at that price. The 15″s start at $1799 though there are often great reconditioned models on offer.

you can customize and accessorize all that shit. And you will be hard pressed to find a machine that’s more adaptable.
